Implementing and Administering Internet Information Services 6.0 (2576)


Who Should Attend

This course is intended for experienced systems administrators and engineers (at a 200-300 skill level) who have experience in deploying, administering, and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for operating system-based servers and networks.


Prerequisites

Before attending this workshop, students must have at least two years experience in administering Microsoft Windows-based servers, and have knowledge and experience that is equivalent to skills measured by exams 70-290 and 70-291. Students should also have the following skills: be able to create user and group accounts, assign file system permissions to resources, and configure network interface parameters. Additionally, they should be able to create and configure Domain Name System (DNS) entries, monitor server performance and network traffic prior to attending class.


Course Objectives

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to implement and administer IIS 6.0. The course focuses on the IIS 6.0 architectural features that improve reliability, security, manageability and performance. The course also provides knowledge and skills to successfully install, configure, implement security, monitor and manage Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 servers and Web sites.
After course completion, students will be able to describe the main features of IIS 6.0, the IIS 6.0 security model, the request processing and metabase architectures. Students should be able to plan the implementation of IIS 6.0 based on the administrative and business needs of an organisation. Additionally, students are expected to be able to install and configure IIS 6.0 and implement Web server and web site security. Students will also be able to create additional Web and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites, administer IIS metabase and manage Web sites and applications. Lastly students are expected to monitor IIS 6.0 performance and Security and migrate Web sites and applications from earlier versions of IIS.
