Implementing MS Operations Manager 2000 (2550)


Who Should Attend

This course is intended for students who fall into the Northwest Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET) Network Design and Administration occupation cluster. Within this occupational cluster the ideal student would have the following critical work functions (those work functions associated with the MOM product):
Perform analysis and design
Perform configuration and implementation
Perform monitoring and management
Perform administration and maintenance
Ideally, students will have experience in enterprise data centers, departments within large enterprises, or in companies managing servers for 100 or more client desktops.


Prerequisites

Familiarity with configuring Microsoft Windows 2000.
An understanding of network infrastructures.
Familiarity with domains and the Active Directory directory service.
Knowledge of how to create & manage users, groups, & computers in a domain.


Course Objectives

The goal of this course to give students experience with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 and to show them how to implement it effectively. At the end of the course, students will be able to:
Identify the features of MOM 2000 that support operations management.
Identify a MOM deployment that provides a distributed operations management solution.
Perform a custom installation according to specified configurations and prerequisites.
Install and configure agents.
Use MOM groups to apply processing rules for events.
Create alert, event, and performance processing rules.
Plan and configure MOM for complex situations.
Use predefined reports to view collected data and provide access to reports through a Web interface.
