Who Should Attend

Network and database administrators responsible for the design, implementation, management and technical support of SQL Servers, consultants, support engineers, MCP, MCSE and MCDBA candidates.


Prerequisites

An understanding of basic relational database concepts or Course 1609 Designing Data Services & Data Models and Transact-SQL syntax such as SELECT, UPDATE and INSERT statements or Course 2071 Querying Microsoft SQL server 2000. Students must also have completed Course 2151 Windows 2000 Network & Operating System Essentials and Course 2152 Implementing Windows 2000 Professional & Server or have equivalent experience.


Course Objectives

This course teaches you the knowledge and skills needed to perform SQL Server 2000 administration, client/server database management and support tasks effectively. Participants will learn architectural and security concepts in addition to installing and configuring SQL Server 2000. A comprehensive range of administrative duties are practiced during the course, including capacity planning, backup and restore strategies, automation of maintenance tasks, data import/export, performance monitoring tools, and replication. With these skills the administrator should then be able to effectively install, configure and deploy databases in the SQL Server 2000 environment.
