Implementing Win2000 Directory Services (2154)


Who Should Attend

Windows 2000 network administrators, professionals and systems engineers responsible for the deployment and administration of Windows 2000 directory services, support engineers, MCP and MCSE candidates.


Prerequisites

Completion of courses (E-2152) Implementing Win2000 Professional and Win2000 Server and (E-2153) Implementing Win2000 Networking Services or equivalent knowledge and experience .


Course Objectives

This course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure and administer Windows 2000 Directory Services. Participants primarily learn about the Active Directory architecture, practice DNS integration as well as creating and administering Windows 2000 domains, users and groups. The course also teaches candidates how to effectively use Group Policies to centrally manage user desktops, deploy applications and manage security. Finally, candidates create and learn how to manage Windows 2000 trees and forests, manage Active Directory databases, replication processes, database reliability and database recovery.

Implementing DNS to support Active Directory
Creating a Windows 2000 Domain and implementing Organisational Units
Creating and administering user and group accounts within Active Directory
Publishing network resources in Active Directory - shared folders, printers and services
Delegate administrative control to decentralise administration of a Windows 2000 network
Implementing Group Policies to centrally manage users and computers
Using Group Policies to manage client work environments
Using Group Policies to deploy and manage applications
Using Group Policies to implement and manage network security settings
Creating and managing Multiple-Domain Trees and Multiple-Tree Forests
Managing Active Directory Replication processes within a site and between sites
Managing Operations Masters
Maintaining and recovering Active Directory databases
Implement and administer Active Directory designs
