Who Should Attend

Windows 2000 network administrators, professionals and systems engineers responsible for the deployment and support of Windows 2000 computers, support engineers, MCP and MCSE candidates


Prerequisites

Completion of course (E-2151) Win2000 Operating System & Networking Essentials or equivalent knowledge and experience.


Course Objectives

This course teaches the knowledge and skills needed for installing and configuring the Windows 2000 Professional, Server and Advanced Server operating systems, on client and server computers respectively. Participants will learn and practice installing and upgrading to Windows 2000, connecting clients to various private and public networks, creating and managing user accounts and enabling access to network file and print resources. The course includes knowledge and experience in providing data security, backup and disaster recovery, maintaining and optimising performance, providing access for mobile users, installing and configuring Terminal Services.

Installing and upgrading to Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Configuring the Windows 2000 desktop environment
Client connectivity to Microsoft, NetWare networks and the Internet
Creating, configuring and managing user accounts and their properties
Creating, configuring and managing user access using Group accounts
Configuring and managing disk storage, partitions and volumes
Understanding NTFS permissions, data compression and disk quotas
Network access to file system resources, using shared folders and DFS
Configuring and troubleshooting network printing and web-based printing
Configuring Windows 2000 security policies, auditing and securing data using EFS
Windows 2000 maintenance, support packs, adding/removing devices and troubleshooting
Performance monitoring and optimisation tools and techniques
Implementing Disaster Protection and Recovery features
Configuring dial-up access for mobile Windows 2000 computers
